Ranger Vehicle Project

Requirements

Universal Engineering launched ‘Project Ranger’ in June 2008 – to develop a family of protected vehicles for use by Military Forces world-wide.
Project Ranger is a private commercial venture based on an emerging need for highly capable, protected military vehicles for use in both urban and off-road environments to meet current and emerging threats.
The Vehicle Design is unique in that it has been designed from the crew outwards and offers the most advanced protection system available with an array of optional mission enhancing systems for the commander to choose from.
Currently no single vehicle can achieve the combined requirements of providing high level protection, high mobility and payload carrying ability demanded by today’s & tomorrow’s fighting forces.
All currently available vehicles compromise the 3 key requirements in that one can have mobility at the expense of protection and vice versa or payload carrying at the expense of mobility and/or protection.

Key Design Features

UEC set out to satisfy the following 3 key requirements with one family of vehicles – The Ranger Vehicle family.

All models (& variants of each model) to meet the following key design parameters:

1 Survivability ATMB and ballistic protection to STANAG 4569 Level 4 (minimum).
In addition to the Level 4 protection all Ranger variants are fitted with an add-on / tuneable armour solution tailorable to the prevailing threat.

2 Mobility UK Defence Standard 23-6 Iss 4 (DEF STAN).
Improved Medium Mobility Load Carrier (IMMLC) characteristics.

3 Payload Ability to carry up to 6T Payload*
* 6 x 6 and 8 x 8 models. 4 x 4 will carry proportionately less.
